The motorway junction Walldorf (abbreviation: AK Walldorf ; short form: Kreuz Walldorf or Walldorfer Kreuz ) is a motorway junction in the southern Rhine-Neckar area in Baden-Württemberg .
At the motorway junction Walldorf from the Hessian meet Hattenbacher triangle to the Swiss Basel leading National Highway 5 and extending in the east-west direction Bundesautobahn 6 . The most heavily used connecting railways in the cross are the connections from the A 6 in the direction of Saarbrücken to the A 5 from / to Basel and vice versa.
geography
The cross is located both in the area of Walldorf and in the area of St. Leon-Rot . It is located about 15 km south of Heidelberg , about 25 km southeast of Mannheim and about 35 km northeast of Karlsruhe . The federal highways 3 , 36 and 39 run in the immediate vicinity .
It is an important traffic junction , as the A 5 ( Scandinavia - Switzerland / southern France ) and the A 6 (northern France - Czech Republic ) intersect here. The Walldorf interchange is number 40 on the A 5 and number 31 on the A 6.
State of development
There are four lanes on the A5 near the intersection and four lanes to the north and six lanes to the south. The A 6 has six lanes. All transitions are single-lane.
It is laid out in the shape of a shamrock .
Traffic volume
It is one of the busiest road junctions in Baden-Württemberg with around 185,000 vehicles per day.
