The Nordwestkreuz Frankfurt is a motorway junction in Frankfurt am Main . This is where the federal motorway 5 ( Hattenbacher Dreieck - Frankfurt am Main - Basel ) and the federal motorway 66 ( Wiesbaden - Fulda ) cross. Roadways and bridge structures to the L3005 from Frankfurt-Rödelheim to Eschborn are also integrated into the motorway junction .
geography
The north-west cross is located in the area of the city of Frankfurt am Main in the Rödelheim district on the border with Eschborn. The cross is located about 7 km northwest of downtown Frankfurt and 2 km northwest of the Rödelheim town center and about 1 km southeast of Eschborn. Immediately to the east of the motorway junction is the factory site of the automotive supplier Continental Teves , and to the south of the junction is an industrial park where, among other things, the Possmann press is based. The areas north and west of the cross, some of which are already in the Eschborn and Sossenheim districts, are used for agriculture. The Westerbach also runs here .
The Nordwestkreuz Frankfurt is number 18 on the A 5 and number 19 on the A 66.
Design and state of development
The A 5 has been expanded to six lanes in this area. The A 66 has eight lanes in the direction of Frankfurt and four lanes in the direction of Wiesbaden. All transitions are single-lane.
The cross has a double junction with the Frankfurt-Rödelheim AS.
A special feature is that the cloverleaf was not completely executed - coming from the A 5 there is no possibility to drive west on the A 66 (Wiesbaden), there is only a small makeshift driveway for emergency vehicles. Vehicles with this destination have to leave the A 5 at Westkreuz Frankfurt in order to get to the A 66 heading west via the 648 federal motorway via Eschborner Dreieck .
Traffic volume
The Nordwestkreuz is one of the busiest road junctions in Hessen with around 205,000 vehicles per day.
