The Krifteler Dreieck is a motorway triangle in the Rhine-Main area . This is where a section of the federal highway 40a (in the direction of Saarbrücken ) ends on the federal highway 66 ( Wiesbaden - Fulda ).

location

The motorway triangle is located east of Kriftel and north of Hattersheim am Main in the Main-Taunus district on the city limits of Frankfurt am Main . East of the triangle is the Frankfurt district of Sindlingen , north of the Frankfurt- Zeilsheim building . The Krifteler Dreieck has the number 13 on the federal motorway 66. It is not a motorway triangle in the strict sense of the word, since a motorway intersects with a federal road. The official name is therefore "Junction Krifteler Dreieck". Since the B 40 is built like a motorway between the triangle and Frankfurt-Griesheim , the designation as a motorway triangle has established itself.

Design

The Krifteler Dreieck has the shape of a complete triangle (Full-Y), the B 40 coming from the east is divided into two direct and two semi-direct connecting ramps (one in each direction) to the A 66. The semi-direct ramps are then either over or under the A 66 carriageway in the respective direction. A small modification of the full triangle has been made to the southern direct connecting ramp. It does not come “from the right” as usual to the lanes of the northern semi-direct ramp, but passes under it first and thus forms the two left lanes of the B 40.

In the northern part of the triangle, the roadways cross the Main-Lahn-Bahn with two additional bridges. In addition, an economic road is bridged.
