Unkersdorf is the westernmost part of the Saxon state capital Dresden and belongs to the village of Gompitz .

geography

Unkersdorf is bounded in the north by the federal highway 4 and in the east by the federal highway 17 . The latter begins immediately northeast of the district at the Dresden-West motorway triangle .

The highest point is the 315 m high Steinhübel to the south. A surveying column of the Royal Saxon Triangulation was erected on it in 1869 . This has been in place since 1999.

Unkersdorf can be reached by local public transport via a regional bus line that connects it with the districts of Gompitz and Cotta .

history

In 1760, during the Seven Years' War , the town served as the headquarters of the Prussian King Friedrich II .

In the time of the German Reich Unkersdorf belonged to Amtshauptmannschaft Meissen , then from 1935 with the entry into force of the German Municipal Code to district Meissen, DDR -time from 1952 to district Dresden-Land and from 1996 to again in 1999 for the district of Meissen .

On July 1, 1950, the neighboring towns of Roitzsch and Steinbach were incorporated into the then still independent community . 1974 lost so enlarged municipality with the incorporation to Gompitz its independence and was with the other Gompitzer districts in 1999 as part of a municipal reform to Dresden incorporated.

Within the statistical district of Gompitz / Altfranken , the district forms the statistical district 997 Unkersdorf.

Culture and sights

The town center is structurally characterized by a large number of farms, which are mainly located on the old main road , which was renamed Am Schreiberbach in 2002 . Thus, the place can be assigned to the type of street village . The village church dates from the 14th century and is now used for church services and as a venue for cultural events.
