About this picture
Location of the Seidnitz district in Dresden

Seidnitz was first mentioned in 1378 as Sydticz and has been a district in the east of Dresden since 1902 . It belongs to the statistical districts of Seidnitz / Dobritz and Tolkewitz / Seidnitz-Nord and thus to the city district of Blasewitz . Seidnitz is located between Striesen and Reick and is best known for the Dresden racecourse located two kilometers south-east of the Great Garden . Horse races were part of the program of court festivities in the city as early as the 18th century . However, today's site has only been used since 1891 on the initiative of the Dresdner Rennverein 1890 e. V. and the industrialist Hugo von Hoesch used for races.

The district with simple and medium-sized residential areas is today characterized by commercial areas and pragmatic residential developments. The development is nevertheless different.

After the Second World War , larger industrial companies were established here. The Leuben parish acquired the Goschmannsche Gut, the war-damaged barn was poorly repaired from June 1951 and consecrated as a church on the 2nd Advent of the year, the stables were converted into parish rooms. The Seidnitz Church was named Nazareth Church in 1953 and its congregation was given independence. The simple structure is now a registered cultural monument .

With the Seidnitz Center, a shopping center was built after the political change in the GDR , the basement of which is also used by discos. This typical “artificial” district center is also often used by residents of other parts of the city.

For example, regionally active media companies and printing houses are located in larger office complexes. Smaller companies that offer vehicle services are also typical.

Local politicians have decided to further promote the industrial character of the district away from residential development.
