history

Omsewitz was first mentioned in 1317 as Omasuwicz (Old Sorbian: people of Omaz) when the archdeacon of Nisan donated a manor in the town to the Meissen cathedral . Burgstädtel was mentioned about 200 years later in the documents, namely in 1511 as Borckstadtel .

Omsewitz belonged to the Meissen cathedral chapter for centuries . It was not until 1559 that the Dresden office came into being .

After the First World War , a large housing estate was built in Omsewitz. Some larger villas were also built for this purpose.

today

The housing cooperative north-west ( WOBA Dresden ), together with the railway housing cooperative (EWG), has the majority of the residential area that has existed in Omsewitz since 1985. Before, only large areas of arable land and livestock extended over the area.

The historic village center was placed under protection by the conservation statute that the city council passed on June 4, 1992.
