Naußlitz is a district in the southwest of the Saxon capital Dresden . It is located in the district of the same name , which belongs to the Cotta district.

Naußlitz is located 4 km southwest of Dresden city center, the inner old town , at the transition from the Elbe valley to the Meißner highlands . Adjacent demarcations are Wölfnitz and Gorbitz in the north, Löbtau in the east, Dölzschen in the south and Roßthal in the west. The district Naußlitz belongs to the statistical district of the same name Naußlitz .

The town center is called Altnaußlitz and lies at an altitude of 170  m above sea level. NN . It is located on the Roßthaler Bach and has partly been preserved in the state of the 19th century. To the north of it, Naußlitz is shaped by the residential buildings that have grown over from Löbtau, while the south of the district has the character of a settlement that seamlessly merges into Dölzschen. There are also several garden centers in the district. The most important streets in the Naußlitz district are Saalhausener and Kesselsdorfer Straße .

history

The place name Naußlitz is derived from the Sorbian " novo sedlec ", which can be translated as "new settlement" or "Neudorf". In terms of its name, it is closely related to the other Dresden district of Niedersedlitz . The place arose as a street village with a block corridor similar to a win, probably shortly after 1068 on the two Löbtauer Königshufen, which were then awarded. In 1144 it was first mentioned as Nuendorf iuxta Deltsan ("Neudorf bei Dölzschen"). The place name then developed over the Slavic forms Nuzadeliz , Nusedelicz , Nuzsedelicz , Nußlicz and Nawselwitz to the names Nauselitz and Naueschitz mentioned in 1547 . The current name appears for the first time in 1590. However, other spellings such as Nauslitz also existed until it was finalized in the late 19th century .

Naußlitz and its neighboring villages on a map from the 19th century

Initially Naußlitz was owned by the Meißner Domstiftes . After the Reformation , the Prokuraturamt in Meißen became the administrator of the former property of the Catholic Church. From 1559 Naußlitz was the administrative part of the office or the Amtshauptmannschaft Dresden . It was parish from 1547 to nearby Pesterwitz , from 1837 to Dresden and from 1891 to Löbtau. As the corridor continued to splinter, the real division was forbidden in Naußlitz in 1672 . Karl May , who was wanted for theft, fraud and imposture, was hiding in Naußlitz for two months in 1864 while on the run from the Chemnitz police. Between 1816 and 1879 there was a school community with Dölzschen and Roßthal. In the new Naußlitz school building built in 1899, the naturalist and local researcher Rudolf Schumann was also active in the 1920s and 1930s .

Alongside fruit and wine growing, agriculture was the main source of income for the local farmers. A small quarry and several brick factories were later operated in the village . The first residential buildings outside the village center were built from 1870 onwards as tenements for mostly Löbtau workers. Since 1 January 1903, when it together with Wölfnitz and Loebtau incorporated was Naußlitz one of Dresden. From 1928 onwards several larger settlements emerged in the south of the district. The Naußlitz tram station, built in 1902 at the acute angle between Koblenzer and Wendel-Hipler-Straße, was initially empty after the fall of the Wall, but was converted into a shopping, medical and business center by 2005.
