history

Marsdorf was first mentioned in 1350 as Maroldisdorf in the feudal book of Friedrich des Strengen . The name is most likely derived from the locator of the street green village, a "Marold" or "Marwald". The place was originally a fiefdom of the Margraves of Meissen . In 1357 the town came into the possession of the mayors of Dresden and Pirna . The Lords of Grünberg also had rights in the village. In 1791 the place fell to the Dresden office and belonged to the Moritzburg office since the 19th century . Ecclesiastically, Marsdorf belonged to the Bärnsdorfer parish. The main industry in the village was agriculture . After 1860, the first handicraft businesses opened in the village. From 1926 to 1932 there was a small granite quarry on the outskirts , which made paving stones and curbs for the surrounding area.

Since the land around the place had been in the possession of the farmers for several centuries, the land reform in 1956 remained meaningless for the place. In 1956 the first LPG was founded with the name “Voran”, and a short time later the LPG “Bergblick”. In 1960, Marsdorf was the first fully cooperative village in the Dresden-Land district . In 1967 the two Marsdorf cooperatives and the LPG of the neighboring town of Medingen merged into one company. In the 1960s and 1970s, several large stable and fattening systems were built. In 1979 a broiler fattening facility was built. Marsdorf belonged to Weixdorf as a district from 1965 and was incorporated into Dresden on January 1, 1999.
