In addition to the large pond, which also has a forest pool, these are the Upper and Lower Middle Pond and the Mühlteich. Smaller elevations in Weixdorf are the Schelsberg (215 m) and the Hohe Busch (225.6 m). The area around Weixdorf is also known as the Lause .

history

General

Today's village Weixdorf was created in 1914 through the merger of the villages of Lausa , into which Friedersdorf was incorporated as early as 1879 , Weixdorf and Gomlitz . The resulting community was initially called Lausa - after the most important of these villages - until this originally Slavic place name was replaced by the German-speaking Weixdorf in 1938 at the time of National Socialism . According to the local chronicler H. Claus, the double name Weixdorf-Lausa or Lausa-Weixdorf, which appears in some sources, never existed as an official name for the community between 1914 and 1938.

In the Second World War, 26 civilian aerial warfare deaths and ten soldiers were buried in the cemetery.

In 1965 Marsdorf was incorporated . In 1993 Weixdorf entered into a community partnership with Brühl in Baden-Württemberg. On January 1st, 1999 the community Weixdorf was incorporated into Dresden and has existed since then as a locality Weixdorf.

Weixdorf town hall

Weixdorf town hall

In the 35 years from 1890 to 1925, the population of the four towns at the time rose from around 1,600 to more than double that, to over 3,600. In order to do justice to this growth, the community had a new town hall built relatively centrally in 1927/1928, which also housed a savings bank.

Due to the renaming of the community, the town hall on Weixdorfer Rathausplatz today bears the name Weixdorfs, although it is located in the Lausa district. The building, which is now a listed building, was professionally renovated in 2011 and serves the administration of the village of Weixdorf and, since January 1, 2014, of the villages of Langebrück and Schönborn.

Culture and sights

The Weixdorfer Waldbad is one of the last natural baths in Dresden and celebrated the 100th anniversary of its existence in 2006.

There is a sports club in the village, the SG Weixdorf , whose sports grounds have been renewed and expanded in recent years (forest sports field). The soccer team plays in the 7th league, the state class Saxony East. A group of supporters of this association has succeeded in making its own list, the "Sportfreunde Weixdorf", in the local elections in 2004 and 2009, in each case the second largest parliamentary group after the CDU in the Weixdorf local council .

The Weixdorf Church is worth seeing . It is located in the Lausa district and is also called Pastor Roller Church after Samuel David Roller , who worked there as a pastor in the first half of the 19th century and who found lasting memories through Wilhelm von Kügelgen's book “Jugenderinnerungen eines Altenmanns” .
