To the south lies the Freital district of Wurgwitz , to the west of the village of Gompitz are the Wilsdruffer districts of Kesselsdorf and Kaufbach. In the northwest, Klipphausen borders with its district Hühndorf .
history
Just a few years after the individual present-day districts had each formed an independent rural community , some of them entered into loose functional connections with one another. The neighboring districts of Gompitz and Pennrich founded a home district in 1859 , which Zöllmen later joined. This forerunner of an administrative community regulated a joint welfare for the poor and a cross-community school association for its three members, which had existed since 1790 and for which a new schoolhouse was built in 1879. From 1911, the three parts of the home district also had a uniform compulsory fire brigade.
Today's village of Gompitz emerged in various stages from the early days of the GDR through the final amalgamation of these communities. First in 1950 Pennrich and Zöllmen were incorporated into Gompitz , so that the three parts of the former home district were now combined in one municipality. In 1974 Unkersdorf was also added, into which two further communities, Roitzsch and Steinbach, had already been incorporated in 1950 . Finally, on April 1, 1993, Gompitz also recorded the up to then independent Ockerwitz . A year later the seat of the local administration was relocated to the Pennrich district, which is more central than Gompitz. On January 1, 1999, the Gompitz community was incorporated into Dresden and has been called Gompitz since then.
