Dresden-South

In the listed building Fritz-Foerster-Platz 2 in the southern suburbs , which was built in 1910 , the council and administration of the Dresden-Süd district had their seat.

From 1957 to 1991, Dresden-Süd was a district of Dresden on the left Elbe , which included large parts of the southern urban area. The seat of the council of the city district was the building Fritz-Foerster-Platz 2 . At the head of the city district administration stood a city district mayor.

location

The western border to the Dresden-West urban district ran from the city limits to Freital for the most part along the Dresden – Werdau railway line through the Plauenschen Grund and on to about the Budapester Straße bridge . Only the rock cellar east of the route did not belong to Dresden-Süd. From the Budapester Strasse bridge, the city district border followed the Děčín – Dresden-Neustadt railway line up to Langer Weg. Up to the level of Basteiplatz the city district of Dresden-Mitte bordered in the north , from there to the southern city limit the city district of Dresden-East was adjacent. This border line initially followed the long path to Dohnaer Straße. From there it largely coincided with the northern border of today's statistical district Lockwitz , only in the area of Siebenbürgener Straße did the border run a little further north. At the main transformer station in Dresden-Süd, at the height of Heidenauer Strasse, it met what was then the southern city limit, which it followed to the starting point of this description in Plauen reason. The southern border of Dresden at that time differs from today's only in that it did not include Kauscha, which was incorporated in 1999 .

Consequently, the district of Dresden-Süd comprised the entire current district of Plauen with the exception of small areas in the Plauenschen Grund and the district of Prohlis except Kauscha and Niedersedlitz .

history

On May 14, 1957, the Dresden city council decided to reduce the number of city districts from nine to five. The Dresden-Süd district was then created in June 1957 through the amalgamation of parts of smaller districts that were only formed in 1950. At that time, the old city district V flowed completely into Dresden-Süd. It corresponded almost exactly to the present-day district of Plauen, i.e., in addition to Plauen itself, it also included the districts of Südvorstadt , Räcknitz , Zschertnitz , Coschütz , Gittersee , Kaitz , Kleinpestitz and Gostritz as well as the western part of Mockritz . Added to this was the largest part of District IV, namely the eastern part of Mockritz, Strehlen , Leubnitz-Neuostra , Reick , Prohlis , Torna and Nickern . Only the south of Grunas as well as Seidnitz and Dobritz from the old district IV were left out because they were assigned to Dresden-East. Lockwitz as well as small and large luga from the old district III were also attached to Dresden-Süd . At the time of its establishment, the Dresden-Süd district had around 76,000 inhabitants.

In 1991, ten smaller units were formed from the five Dresden city districts, which should make it easier for residents to identify and bring them closer to the citizens. The term city district was replaced by local authority area in order to distinguish itself from the nomenclature of the GDR . Since September 2018 it has been called the city district again. The eastern part of the southern district went completely to the new district of Prohlis, which also included Niedersedlitz and later Kauscha. In the west of the southern district, the Südvorstadt district initially developed. This was due to the fact that the administration initially still had its seat at Fritz-Foerster-Platz . The former administration building there is in the district of Altstadt II and thus belongs to the southern suburb, after which the newly formed city district was named. It was not until the move to the renovated town hall of Plauen in 1996 that the administrative unit was renamed the Plauen local office area (since 2018: Plauen district).

District court Dresden-Süd

For each of the five Dresden city districts as well as the Dresden-Land district , a district court was responsible as the initial instance of ordinary jurisdiction. The Dresden District Court was superordinate to them.

The Dresden-Süd district court existed until June 30, 1990, after which the Dresden-Mitte district court, now the Dresden district court , took over responsibility for all five urban districts and the district and handed them over to the Dresden district court on December 31, 1992 .
