The town of Schönfeld-Weißig is the easternmost town in Dresden .

location

Schönfeld-Weißig borders the Loschwitz district as well as Pirna , Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach and Radeberg and thus also the districts of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains and Bautzen .

structure

The village consists of the districts Borsberg , Cunnersdorf , Eichbusch , Eschdorf (with Rosinendörfchen ), Gönnsdorf , Helfenberg , Krieschendorf , Malschendorf , Pappritz , Reitzendorf , Rockau , Rossendorf , Schönfeld , Schullwitz , Weißig and Zaschendorf .

The districts are combined to form the three statistical districts Gönnsdorf / Pappritz , Schönfeld / Schullwitz and Weißig.

landscape

The village is located on a high plateau, which, after Schönfeld, is called the Schönfeld highlands . The individual districts are at heights between 250 and 300 meters and are interrupted by hills. Due to this scenic character, the village stands out clearly from the rest of the city , which is largely in the Elbe valley . The highest point is the 384-meter-high Triebenberg , which is also the highest point in Dresden.

Incorporation

The short-lived community Schönfeld-Weißig was newly formed on January 1, 1994 from the communities Borsberg, Cunnersdorf, Eschdorf, Gönnsdorf, Pappritz, Rockau, Schönfeld, Schullwitz and Weißig. Five years later, on January 1, 1999, it was incorporated into Dresden at the same time as Gompitz , Mobschatz , Langebrück , Weixdorf and Kauscha .

Schönfeld-Weißig was the largest community or the largest part of the community that was incorporated into Dresden in the nineties . Dresden tried above all to counteract the threat of tax losses due to suburbanization in the surrounding area. In July 2007, a compromise was reached with the state capital Dresden on how the outstanding points of the integration agreement will be implemented. Accordingly, the state capital will invest around 10 million euros in the town over the next few years.

Traffic and location

Above all, the core of the village around Weißig is closely tied to the Dresden district of Bühlau , whose access to public transport provides a connection to the long-distance railway and the city center in around 15 minutes. Hikers can explore the Schönfeld highlands on the Schönfeld-Weißiger Bergweg, which connects seven mountains. The Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf is closely linked to many research institutions and technology companies in Dresden.

In Eschdorf is the St. Barbara Church with Herbrig organ and organ brochure by Gottfried Semper .
