Belvedere

The Belvedere on the Schöne Höhe

A special attraction is the "Belvedere" on the " Schönen Höhe ", a tower with frescoes painted by Carl Gottlieb Peschel on the works of Johann Wolfgang Goethe , donated by the Dresden art patron and Goethe admirer Johann Gottlob von Quandt . In the tower there is an exhibition on the history of Dittersbach. From here you can descend into the valley of the Wesenitz via the district of Elbersdorf .

Rittergut Dittersbach, Castle 2018

Another attraction is the Dittersbacher Schloss with its estate and public park. The castle, once threatened with decay, is currently being restored by a private investor.

church

The Dittersbacher church was (re) built in 1662 after the old church and the rectory fell victim to a fire in 1660. In 1722 the tower was completed and the nave was extended into the tower and in 1726 a one-manual organ was installed by Gottfried Silbermann .

Dittersbacher fair

Since 1668, the market has always been held on the Sunday after Bartholomew (August 24th) on the last weekend in August. In an old tradition it is said that the fair once took place in the district of Stürza. However, it is said to have been moved to Dittersbach because two shoemakers killed each other on the Stürza market in a trade dispute. Today the most diverse trades are presented on the market. The fair closes with fireworks on the Tuesday after the market weekend.

The location of the market certainly contributed significantly to the preservation of this traditional fair, as it is located in the immediate vicinity of two intersecting trade routes - the salt route leading from Halle to Bohemia and the Budissin road and post road, today's B6 .
