Bannewitz is a municipality south of Dresden in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .
geography
Neighboring communities
Bannewitz borders in the south and south-east on districts of Kreischa ( Kleba , Brösgen , Theisewitz , Kleincarsdorf , Quohren ), in the south-west on parts of the city of Rabenau ( Karsdorf , Oelsa , Obernaundorf ), in the west on Freital and in the north and north-east on the Saxon capital Dresden . The Franconian desert is probably located in the area between Possendorf, Brösgen, Kleba, Golberode and Rippien.
Community structure
The municipality of Bannewitz consists of the four localities Bannewitz, Possendorf, Goppeln and Rippien. The localities in turn consist of the following districts :
- Bannewitz: Bannewitz, Boderitz , Cunnersdorf , Welschhufe
- Possendorf: Börnchen , Possendorf , Wilmsdorf
- Ribs: Hänichen , ribs
- Goppeln: Goppeln , Golberode , Gaustritz
The district Bannewitz consists of the historic villages Bannewitz, Eutschütz , Nöthnitz and Rosentitz , each named after them in districts lie.
history
Already 4000 years ago there was a settlement in the area of the B 170, in 1311 it was first mentioned as "Panewycz" as a Slavic settlement. At the beginning of the 20th century, Bannewitz was part of the Dresden administration , while Possendorf was part of the Dippoldiswalde administration . In 1952 the then still independent parts of the community were added to the new Freital district. After the merger of the Freital district with the Dippoldiswalde district, Bannewitz became part of the new Weißeritz district in 1994 . In 1999 the communities of Possendorf and Bannewitz merge; whereby the Bannewitz district of Kauscha is incorporated into Dresden . In August 2008, Bannewitz went with the Weißeritzkreis in the newly formed district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

The municipality of Bannewitz has an officially approved coat of arms according to the decision of the municipal council on December 15, 2005.
Blazon : “Divided in the Göpel cut; Silver building bordered green by silver and split by two green stake threads, with six green windows and green roof with ridge turret; behind in silver green oak; below in green three silver crosses grown together with the feet and between these three silver six-pointed stars. "

The building represents the Malakow tower of the Marienschacht and represents mining.
The oak is taken from the Possendorfer coat of arms.
Dreizack und Sterne quote the coat of arms of the von Schill family and pays particular tribute to Ferdinand von Schill .

Museums
The Mining and Regional Museum Marienschacht shows various exhibitions throughout the year as well as a permanent exhibition on the subject of mining.
Buildings
- Triangulation column and striking 63 m high cell phone tower on the Gohlig (Goldene Höhe)
- Malakow Tower of Marienschacht : The last German Malakow Tower, a striking building by Bannewitz, was built in 1891 and is also reflected in the coat of arms
- Possendorf windmill , visits possible
- Nöthnitz Castle : Renaissance castle built in 1635 and modified in 1870 . In the 18th century the castle was owned by Heinrich Graf von Bünau and housed his library with over 42,000 volumes.
- Church in Bannewitz , it was built as a school in 1864 and served the Dresden Kreuzkirchengemeinde as a prayer room from 1877 onwards. In 1885 a church tower was placed in front of the building, which is unique in the Free State of Saxony.
- Possendorfer Church , the landmark of the district, with its 57 meter high tower. The foundation walls date from 1521, the main part of the church was built in 1595/96. There were structural changes in the 17th and 18th centuries.
- Inn on the Lerchenberg with a lookout tower into the Eastern Ore Mountains
Parks
On the northeastern edge of Bannewitz is the Nöthnitz Castle Park, which is bordered by the Nöthnitz Castle. In the Possendorf district, near Schulstrasse, there is also a school park. Another park, the Lunapark, is located on the back of the Gohlig on the northern edge of the Hänichen district. From here you can look to Dresden, across the Elbe Valley, to Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland and the Eastern Ore Mountains.
sports clubs
- SV Bannewitz eV The sports club has football, table tennis, volleyball and chess departments. The 1st team of the chess department represents the club in the major league and the 1st team of the table tennis department in the district league. In football, SV Bannewitz has been playing in the Saxony State League since the 2006/2007 season, but had to relegate to the Dresden District League (later center) after the 2009/10 season.
- SG Empor Possendorf eV has football, volleyball, pop gymnastics and gymnastics departments. The association has a total of 510 members who practice leisure and competitive sports. In football, the first men's team was promoted to the district league Staffel Mitte.
- The former motor club MC Bannewitz was a user of the now closed motocross track An der Senke , which led through and around a gravel pit. Motocross and auto-and-motocross events were held there between 1996 and 1989. From the MC Bannewitz came in 1969 with Heiner Wirth the GDR master in motocross in the class up to 125 cm³.

Economy and Infrastructure
traffic
By the municipality Bannewitz led since 1856 Windbergbahn of Potschappel which originally called industrial railway for the removal of at Hänichen and the Windberg subsidized coal was built. After the start of passenger traffic and the extension to Possendorf in 1909, the connection developed into an important excursion railway. In 1951 the line was shut down and dismantled.
Agriculture
As a result of the land reform in 1946, the manor Nöthnitz had to divide its lands to new farmers. In 1949 the MAS Bannewitz was founded, which in 1952 was transferred to the LPG Progress Bannewitz, which in 1958 opened a six- stalls cattle barn with dairy cows on Horkenstrasse and pigsties in Kleinnaundorf. The workshop was housed in the former manor Nöthnitz. Today parts of the dissolved LPG friendship and progress Bannewitz belong to the Dresdner Vorgebirgs Agrar AG. After German reunification, there were also a number of resettlers.
