The place is south of the main town. Federal highway 170 runs through the village . Hänichen is located on the upper reaches of the Geberbach or in its headwaters on the Gohlig ( Goldene Höhe ).

General

Former station Hänichen-Goldene Höhe (status 2015)

Hänichen is a Sorbian town founded. The place is first mentioned in 1324 as Henechin (to the small grove).

In 1565 the place with the Vorwerk was under the rule of Rabenau. In 1846 the Beckerschacht was sunk. The Hänichener Steinkohlenbauverein was founded in 1850 and existed until 1906. On April 1, 1857, the first freight train loaded with hard coal drove from the Beckerschacht to Dresden on the newly built section of the Hänichener Kohlenzweig Railway , which later became the Windberg Railway.

As a result of mining, new working-class families settled along today's federal highway 170, and new houses were built. In 1906 the mining was stopped. Straw hats were made in town in 1818. On the site of the former Geberbach ponds, a gymnastics area was created for the school that had been built in 1868, which was expanded in 1882. In 1960, the town was expanded along the Höhenweg. As early as 1946, the local farmers joined together to form an LPG, which in 1952 joined LPG Progress Bannewitz. Today the Dresdner Vorgebirgs Agrar AG has its headquarters in the village, on the former route of the Windbergbahn.
