International Society of Pharmacovigilance

The International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) is currently the only international professional society whose concern is the promotion of drug safety (pharmacovigilance) . It was originally founded in 1992 as the European Society of Pharmacovigilance (ESoP). In 2002 the company was internationalized as ISoP. The company is based in London , UK. The members of the society come from the pharmacological / medical university research, the pharmaceutical industry, the authorities in the field of drug approval , such as the European Medicines Agency , the BfArM , the FDA and various NGOs . ISOP is an associated member of the European Association for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (EACPT), the International Union of Pharmacology (IUPHAR) and the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS). There is also close cooperation with the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE).

Annual Meetings

At the annual international conferences, works from the field of pharmacovigilance are presented. The research results presented there can contribute significantly to increasing drug safety. The 2015 conference will take place from October 27th to 30th in Prague under the title Cubism in Pharmacovigilance .

Training courses

The ISoP also conducts further education and training courses every year. Two further education and training courses took place on June 11 and 12, 2012 in Berlin (in English). The focus of the topics was on the far-reaching changes to the pharmacovigilance regulations in the EU and Germany that were imminent at the time. For the year 2016, a course is planned in Berlin from June 2nd to 3rd with the topic Risk assessment of drugs used during pregnancy and lactation .
