Gaustritz is a district of the Saxon municipality of Bannewitz in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

The place is east of the main town. The federal motorway 17 runs in the east .

Early medieval tombstone

history

Gaustritz was first mentioned in 1378 as Gusterticz (lizard village). At that time the village was shaped like a round hamlet . In the 15th century, the diocese of Meissen had fiefs and other rights in the place. There is an early medieval Christian tombstone from the 11th century on the village square. Up until the Thirty Years' War there was a mill with 2 grinding courses on today's Mühlberg am Geberbach. The local farmers joined the LPG friendship Golberode in 1960.
