About this picture

Dorfhain is a municipality in the northwest of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . It is located about 20 kilometers southwest of the Saxon state capital Dresden and is one of the municipalities in the district with the smallest population and area. Dorfhain is a member of an administrative community run by the neighboring town of Tharandt .

Dorfhain was first mentioned in a document in 1351 and was probably founded by the settlers of today's deserted Warnsdorf . Afterwards the place was characterized by mining for about 400 years from 1500 to 1900 , at the end of the 18th century the increased silver mining began around Dorfhain. After the Second World War , the place came to the GDR and until 1994 belonged to the district or district of Freital , then to the Weißeritzkreis and today to the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains.

geography

The community is located on the edge of the Tharandt Forest in the Eastern Ore Mountains, about ten kilometers northwest of the large district town of Dippoldiswalde and eight kilometers southwest of the large district town of Freital . Dorfhain is located on the left slope of the Wild Weißeritz , which has its source in the Altenberg area and is dammed south of Dorfhain to form the Klingenberg dam. The Weißeritz unites in Freital-Hainsberg with the Rote Weißeritz , which flows further east, to form the “United” Weißeritz , which then flows into the Elbe in Dresden .

The municipal area is congruent with the border of the district of the same name and has an area of 6.25 km². The distance from the northernmost to the southernmost point is about 3.5 kilometers, the distance from the easternmost to the westernmost point about 4.5 kilometers. Only the middle and the eastern part of the district are built up, the remaining municipal areas are used for agriculture or are forest areas. Of the 628 hectares of land, the agricultural land has the largest share with 463 hectares. This is followed by 90 hectares of forest and 67 hectares by settlement and traffic areas. These can be divided into building and open spaces (39 hectares), traffic areas (24 hectares), recreational areas (3 hectares), and cemetery areas (1 hectare). 15 hectares of the traffic area are streets, paths and squares. The water area has a share of 6 hectares, 2 hectares are used for other purposes.

Dorfhain can be subdivided into the districts of Kleindorfhain , Mitteldorfhain and Großdorfhain , which, however, have grown together to such an extent that there are no longer any visible boundaries between them. Part of the Edle Krone settlement also belongs to the municipality .

Dorfhain is enclosed in the north by the town of Tharandt and in the south by the municipality of Klingenberg . Surrounding places are Edle Krone in the northeast, Höckendorf in the southeast, Obercunnersdorf in the south, Klingenberg in the southwest and Grillenburg in the northwest.

traffic

The B 173 runs north and the B 170 east of the municipality. The Dresden – Werdau railway line runs through Dorfhain territory , but not through the town. The closest train stations are Klingenberg-Colmnitz and Tharandt , and there is also a stop in Edle Krone . Dorfhain is connected to the local public transport of the Upper Elbe public transport network with the regional bus lines of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

The Edle Krone railway accident in December 1943 occurred on Dorfhainer's corridor.

history

The first documentary mention took place in 1351, but there were first settlements around 1300. It is assumed that this happened from Warnsdorf . In 1944, the Dorfhain hydropower plant went into operation.

In 1952, Dorfhain, which until then belonged to the Dresden district , was added to the newly created Freital district. After the merger of the Freital district with the Dippoldiswalde district , Dorfhain became part of the new Weißeritz district in 1994 , which was merged into the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in 2008. During the flood of the century in August 2002 , the floods of the Wilden Weißeritz destroyed the buildings and streets of Dorfhains.

With the municipal area reform law 1998 the formation of the administrative community with Tharandt took place on January 1, 1999, which has not been fully implemented by Dorfhain, where there has been its own small administration to date. Due to the critical budget situation in the community, exploratory talks were held several times with neighboring communities regarding a community association. After a community merger with Höckendorf failed and this was ruled out with Tharandt, the community wanted to merge with the large district town of Freital . In the absence of a common border, an exchange of territory with Klingenberg or Tharandt and the dissolution of the administrative community with Tharandt would have been necessary, for which there was no legal basis. In the meantime, in the course of consolidation, the place relies on its independence again.
