Lothar Mende

Lothar Mende (born May 6, 1952 in Dorfhain ) is a German politician ( AfD ), member of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district council , former member of the Saxon state parliament and former mayor of Dorfhain.

Life

Lothar Mende attended elementary school in Klingenberg and the EOS in Altenberg , where he graduated from high school. He then studied economics in Leipzig and has been a graduate economist since 1976. Between 1976 and 1978 he was department head in VEB Electronic Components Dorfhain (EBD). From 1979 he was mayor of Dorfhain. Also from 1979 he was community representative in Dorfhain.

From 1990 to 2013 he headed the plastics processing family business Willfried Mende GmbH in neighboring Obercunnersdorf , which was re-privatized after the political change in the GDR , previously VEB Technoplast Obercunnersdorf .

Mende is Protestant, married and has two children.

Lothar Mende was CDU member of the CDU district board from 1977 and between 1985 and 1990 its district chairman in what was then the Freital district . From 1990 he was a member of the state board. In October 1990, Mende was elected to the Saxon state parliament through constituency 49 ( Freital I ) for the CDU , to which he belonged for an electoral period until 1994. There he was a member of the Committee on Economy and Labor and the Budget and Finance Committee. Until 2007 he was mayor of Dorfhain.

In 2015 he left the CDU. In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , he ran for the AfD and was elected to the district council of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. He had already joined the AfD in the run-up to the election.
