The regional transport Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains GmbH (RVSOE) is a transport company and operates several bus lines and ferry services, and with the Kirnitzschtalbahn a tram. The traffic area includes the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains, which gives it its name , as well as parts of the state capital Dresden .
The company emerged from the merger of the former Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz (OVPS) (receiving company) and Regionalverkehr Dresden (RVD) (transferring company) with effect from January 1, 2019. Before that, OVPS had taken over the shares of DB Regio from RVD.
history
The district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains has been trying for a long time to completely take over the company Regionalverkehr Dresden GmbH (RVD), which operated bus services in the Altkreis Weißeritzkreis , but 49 percent belonged to Deutsche Bahn. Linked to this was the aim of standardizing the regional bus traffic in the district, which was operated in the old part of Saxon Switzerland by the Upper Elbe transport company Pirna-Sebnitz. It was also intended to circumvent a regional transport tender that would otherwise be necessary in the near future.
The project failed for a long time because of the Deutsche Bahn, which did not want to sell its shares. In the summer of 2016 it became known that Deutsche Bahn had agreed to negotiate. The takeover was decided by the district council, and the contract was finally sealed at the end of September 2016. The contract became legally valid on January 1, 2017, since then the shares of RVD and thus also the company belong to the district.
This was followed by the merger with OVPS, namely through the merger of the former Oberelbische Verkehrsgesellschaft Pirna-Sebnitz (OVPS) (receiving company) and Regionalverkehr Dresden (RVD) (transferring company) with effect from January 1, 2019 under the renaming of OVPS to RVSOE.
From mid-2019, the OVPS website was also renamed RVSOE. Since June 2019, the buses of the former transport companies have been renamed, and the paintwork will only be carried out gradually.
