Krippen is a district of the state-recognized Kneipp spa town of Bad Schandau in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in Saxony .
geography
Krippen is the only district on the left of the Elbe opposite Postelwitz . The Krippenbach flows into the Elbe at cribs . The body of water fed by the Gautzschgraben spring at the border with the Czech Republic, which also has springs on the other side of the border, extends its catchment area almost to Maxičky on the Bohemian side of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains below the Okrouhlik (494 m above sea level).
history
The original craftsmen's and merchants' settlement on the left of the Elbe with preserved half-timbered houses, which was mentioned as early as 1379, has been a summer retreat since the end of the 19th century, when tourism began to develop . The district was the sphere of activity of the Krippener citizen and inventor of the wood pulp for paper production Friedrich Gottlob Keller (1816–95) from 1853 until his death. A memorial plaque on house number 76 in the main street named after him, the cellar museum where the inventor used to live, pays tribute to him and his work. In 2009 crèches had 568 inhabitants (1999: 720 inhabitants).
Cribs were incorporated on January 1, 1999.
