history

Porschdorf is called in the documents 1443 Borsdorff and Borestorff, 1465 Borißdorf and 1534 Porrßdorf. Its name can be explained as the village of a Slav Bores or Boras, a short form of Borislav. In the early days of its existence, Porschdorf belonged to the Berken von der Dubá auf Hohnstein and later, together with this place, fell to the Wettins .

The Protestant church, made of the massive sandstone available on site, was built in 1905/06.

From February 3, 1945 to mid-April 1945, before the end of the Second World War, there was a subcamp of the Flossenbürg concentration camp , whose 250 prisoners had to do forced labor . The prisoners dug tunnels for the planned underground relocation of the Geilenberg staff. The subcamp had the code name Schwalbe III .

In 2009 Porschdorf had 426 inhabitants (1999: 496 inhabitants).

At the end of 2011 the autonomy of the community ended and it was incorporated into the town of Bad Schandau , to which there was only a very short common border. Since 2000, both municipalities have been doing part of their administrative business in the Bad Schandau administrative community together.
