Location of Ostrau in Saxony

Ostrau is a district of the state-approved Kneipp spa town of Bad Schandau in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

geography

location

Ostrau is located southeast of the Saxon capital Dresden in Saxon Switzerland and in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains . It is located in the east of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in the Saxon Switzerland landscape protection area and is part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park . The Waldhufendorf is located in the east of the city of Bad Schandau. The local situation Ostrau is at 245 m above sea level. NN on the Ostrauer Scheibe , the flatness between the narrow valley of the Elbe 130 m lower in the south, the Kirnitzsch valley in the west and north and the Zahnsgrund in the east. The actual Ostrauer Waldhufenflur, which is largely used for agriculture, comprised 340 hectares. However, the area of the Ostrau district multiplied when a large part of the forest areas of the Upper Saxon Switzerland were added to it, which had previously belonged to the Postelwitz state forest district, an independent estate district outside the municipality.

Corridor area

The eastern border of the district runs through the entire German part of the Großer Zschand , with the armory belonging to the Ottendorfer Flur, which is adjacent to the east and which in turn belongs to the city of Sebnitz . From the confluence of the Großer Zschand into the Kirnitzschtal at the level of the Ottendorfer Neumannmühle , the boundary runs downstream almost to the Tiefer Hahn bus stop along the embankment of the Kirnitzschtalstraße; the river bed of the Kirnitzsch belongs entirely to Ostrau in this approximately two kilometer long section. Since the sawmill Felsenmühle is orographically to the left of the Kirnitzsch, but belongs to Ottendorf, it forms an Ottendorf enclave within Ostraus and an enclave of Sebnitz within Bad Schandau.

From the Lichtenhainer mill to the Bad Schandau location, but with minor exceptions such as in the area of the Lichtenhainer waterfall , where the southern, orographically left-hand side of the valley does not belong to Ostrau, the northern border of the district runs along the Kirnitzsch. The Sebnitz districts of Lichtenhain , Mittelndorf and Altendorf and the corridor of Bad Schandau border this area . The southern border of the district runs along the Elbleiten above Postelwitz and around the Schmilka location (both also districts of Bad Schandau); between Schmilka and the Großer Zschand it is identical to the federal border with the Czech Republic . The corridors of Hřensko (Herrnskretschen) and, to the east of the Prebischtor , of its districts of Mezná (Stimmersdorf) and Mezní Louka (Rainwiese) border there.
