Prossen is a district of the city of Bad Schandau .

The place is located directly on the Elbe with the Elbe Cycle Path , just three kilometers downstream from Bad Schandau . It has a landing stage for the Saxon steam shipping . The Prossen protective port located southeast of the town is part of the federal waterway system . It was laid out in the extensive alluvial plain at the mouth of the Lachsbach in the Elbe to protect shipping from floods and ice. Its construction began in 1921 and commissioning took place on November 5, 1924. The harbor basin is 670 m long and 90 m wide.

The port also serves water sports enthusiasts and recreational captains. A cultural highlight is the Schifferfastnacht, which is celebrated every year on the third Saturday in January. In 2009 Prossen had 456 inhabitants (1999: 580 inhabitants).

On March 1, 1994, Prossen and Porschdorf merged to form the municipality of Porschdorf. Since it was incorporated into Bad Schandau on January 1, 2012, Prossen has belonged to this town as a district.
