The Chrysopeleiinae are a subfamily of the splendor butterflies (Cosmopterigidae). It occurs worldwide with the exception of Oceania and comprises about 270 species in 22 genera.

features

The hind wings of the moths have an open cell, and this feature represents a regression. The uncus is developed or absent and, if present, does not consist of two large, asymmetrical lobes separated to the base.

The caterpillars have one or two subventral bristles on the first abdominal segment. The bristles L1 / L2 are aligned almost horizontally on the first to eighth abdominal segments. The claws on the abdominal legs are arranged in the shape of a uniordinal circle or ellipse. This arrangement is sometimes open at the side. The doll is extremely stocky, its antennae meet in the middle. It has no cremaster and no hair on the tip of the abdomen.

Way of life and systematics

The caterpillars live on living plants and leaves, in plant galls on branches or roots, in flowers or on seeds or drill into bark. The following genera belong to the subfamily:
