The Sebnitz is the left, larger source river of the Lachsbach and runs in the Czech Republic and Saxony. In the Bohemian (Czech) area it is called Vilémovský potok (German: Wölmsdorfer Bach ).
geography
The Sebnitz, or the Wölmsdorfer Bach, rises in the Bohemian Netherlands in a wide valley between the 608 m high Hrazený (Pirsken) and the 593 m high Plešný (Plissenberg), 2 km northwest of the village Brtníky (Zeidler). The stream flows in a north-westerly direction to Velký Šenov (Groß Schönau), where it changes its course to the south-west following the valley of the Šenovský potok and flows through between Vilémov (Wölmsdorf) and Mikulášovice .
Below these places, the Wölmsdorfer Bach between the Spálený vrch (Hillebrand, 443 m) and the Wolfstein (392.9 m) near Dolina (Franzthal) becomes the border brook between the Czech Republic and the German tip of the Sebnitz Forest, which protrudes into the Bohemian area. From this section it is referred to as Sebnitz or Sebnitzbach. After the Sebnitz - Dolní Poustevna border crossing, it flows a few hundred meters as a border brook and then flows through the city of Sebnitz, named after it, and the picturesque Sebnitz valley, to unite with Polenz above Porschdorf to form the salmon brook after 30.8 kilometers . With an average discharge of around 1.9 m³ / s, the Sebnitz can actually be described as the upper reaches of the Lachsbach, as the Polenz has about 1.1 m³ / s less water. The lower part of the Sebnitztal was mainly known for the course of the Sebnitztalbahn with its 7 tunnels.
