Flatness (Königstein)
Ebenheit is a district of the city of Königstein (Saxon Switzerland) . It is located to the right of the Elbe at the southwest foot of the Lilienstein at an altitude of 246 m above sea level. NN.
history
The evenness lies on a geomorphological unit of the same name . It is a small plateau between the Elbe valley and the Lilienstein table mountain. Flatness emerged as a single row forest hoof village at the foot of the Lilienstein . The inhabitants were probably originally devotees of Lilienstein Castle , as indicated by the first mention from 1489: "The Ebent, the do under the Lilienstein uff the ebent, the do belongs to the house" . The designation home refers to Lilienstein Castle.
The size of the settlement remained extremely modest. In 1548 only 3 possessed men lived "uff der ebendt" ; by 1755 the number of resident landowners had only risen to 11. In the Seven Years' War , the Saxon army surrendered to the Prussian troops after the siege at Pirna . Further acts of war occurred in 1813 during the Wars of Liberation . At that time, French troops set up defensive positions to secure the Elbe crossing between Lilienstein and Königstein. Over this crossing, troops from Lausitz advanced in the direction of the Osterzgebirgskamm in order to cut off the return route to Bohemia for the allied troops after the battle of Dresden . In this context, the road leading from Stolpen Castle to the Elbe via flatness was expanded. In 1834 flatness had 75 inhabitants in 12 houses.
Today the Königstein district has around 30 residents. The oldest buildings are two residential stable houses, which are marked with the dates 1747 and 1824.
Connection
The place is only directly connected to the Bad Schandau district of Waltersdorf . There is also a footpath down to Halbestadt , another district of Königstein. From there a passenger ferry shuttles over to Königstein.
