Halbestadt
Halbestadt is a place without district status in the Saxon city of Königstein (Saxon Switzerland) in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

In the form of a relaxed street village , Halbestadt lies elongated on the right bank of the Elbe opposite the city center of Königstein. On the northern side, turned away from the river, there is a plateau crowned by the Lilienstein .
history
The Halbestadt settlement goes back to the Mönchsvorwerk of the Cölestiner monastery . The city bought the 1550 Vorwerk and divided it into eleven parcels in leasehold have been awarded to Königsteiner citizens.
Due to an electoral privilege, the Halbestädter residents were allowed to take the greed ferry across the Elbe free of charge.
During the Wars of Liberation , French troops laid a path from Halbestadt to Lilienstein, which is known as the Napoleonsteig because of them. The half- timbered house from that time (No. 28) is also known as the Napoleon House. House No. 25 is even older.
In the years 1864/1865 a small winter harbor was built as part of the Elbe regulations. Ten years later, 252 people lived in Halbestadt and Ebenheit.
At the Naturfreundehaus Halbestadt (No. 13) a memorial stone commemorates the Nazi opponent Fritz Gumpert , who was murdered here in 1933 after the house was expropriated at the beginning of the Nazi era and converted into an early concentration camp . 70 to 100 political Nazi opponents from Pirna and the surrounding areas were interned there. During the GDR era, the building was used as a youth hostel and was called " Julius Fučík ".
The Elbe ferry was replaced by a motorized ferry in 1993.
