Life

During the GDR era, Becker was a member of the Hans Otto Theater and then Theater 89 in Potsdam for almost 20 years , and was involved in numerous film and occasional television productions. His stage performances in Ulrich Plenzdorf's Time of the Wolves and in Wolokolomsker Chaussee by Heiner Müller as well as his directorial work The Prussians Come , which saw 205 performances, attracted attention . He played his last role in the chess novella .

Becker's publication in Spiegel in 1994 caused a sensation that he had been monitored for the Stasi by his director Gero Hammer , alias "IM Ernst". Becker could be seen regularly as a screen actor until 1990 ( Jungfer, I like her ; Carnations in Aspik ; The house on the river ); after the reunification of the two German states he only played twice, including in Alle Alle (2007).
