Copitz has been a district of Pirna on the right Elbe since 1923 in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district .

history

The place on the Wesenitz , first mentioned in a document in 1417, is probably of Sorbian origin like the place name . During excavations in the area of ​​Copitz-West one found Bronze Age artefacts (e.g. bronze fishhooks). The Brückmühle ( 1304 ) is one of the earliest mentioned mills in the region .

The folk festival- like bird shooting , which the Pirnaer Schützengilde organized in front of the ship gate since the 16th century, took place in Copitz since 1901.
