The old town of Pirna is three kilometers east of Pratzschwitz, also on the other side of the Elbe. The center of Pratzschwitz is located between the gravel and bathing lake Birkwitz and the confluence of the Wesenitz with the Elbe. In the north of the district is the Pirna-Pratzschwitz airfield .
history
Pratzschwitz was first mentioned in 1350 with the forms "Prautschicz", "Bratschicz" and "Praschicz". Many other spellings were later used, including "Bratewicz", "Brattschwitz", "Pratzsch", "Braytzschitz", "Bratzewitz" and "Brotschwitzsch". The village center is an advanced over the centuries Rundling . Around him was a corridor which in 1900 had an area of about 441 hectares.
In 1547 the inhabitants of the village were liable to pay interest to the cathedral chapter in Meißen . At that time, a desolate Vorwerk was also mentioned in the village, but it was intact again in 1610. In the course of the 17th century, a manor developed in Pratzschwitz , the owners of which exercised the manorial rule . In the 18th century it was again a Vorwerk that was under the owners of the manor in Schönfeld . A chamber property is attested for 1875 . The administration of the place was incumbent on the Dresden office from the 16th century , in 1856 the Pirna court office was responsible. On the basis of the rural community code of 1838 , Pratzschwitz gained independence as a rural community. In 1875 it was part of the Pirna Authority ; in the time of the GDR it belonged to the Pirna district . On May 1, 1973 the community merged with its neighboring town to form the new Birkwitz-Pratzschwitz community, which was incorporated into Pirna on January 1, 1999 .
