Tony Nwachukwu

Tony Nwachukwu (born September 30, 1959 in Enugu , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian artist who became known mainly for Christian art in German-speaking countries. He designed u. a. the Misereor hunger cloth for 2009.

Life

After completing his art studies at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka , he taught art and art history at the Bendel State University Ekpoma in 1984/85 . From 1985 to 1987 he was curator and director of the TUAS art gallery in Lagos. In 1987 he settled in Owerri , where he also runs a gallery. His contacts to German-speaking parishes go back to his brother Ozioma Nwachukwu, who was a priest in Switzerland for a long time and with whom he also published several writings.
