Location of Rückersdorf in Saxony

Rückersdorf is a formerly independent village, which from 1994 belonged to the newly formed municipality of Hohwald and in 2007 became a district of Neustadt in Saxony in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

geography

Rückersdorf lies between the Hohwald and the northern foreland of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains . The cities in the vicinity are Neustadt in Sachsen and Stolpen . It is surrounded by three elevations: from the 436 meter high Tannenberg in the north, in the east by the 437 meter high Wachberg and in the southwest by the 380 meter high Haselberg . The Rückersdorfer Bach , also known as Losse , flows through the village and flows into the Polenz .

Rückersdorf has had a railway connection since July 1, 1877, albeit only indirectly. At the breakpoint Oberottendorf can see the Bautzen-Bad Schandau railway reached and the breakpoint Langenwolmsdorf the railway Neustadt-Dürrröhrsdorf . Both stops were train stations in the past.

history

place

The relatively small settlement, which comprised 16 Waldhufen , was first mentioned in the spelling Rudigersdorf , at other times also Rukerisdorph , Rudegersdorf or Rukkersdorf , in 1223. At that time it was under the episcopal Meissnian Burgward Göda . The lower jurisdiction exercised the local feudal or manor owner from about 1433. In 1559, as part of the Reformation , Rückersdorf became part of the Electorate of Saxony together with the episcopal office of Stolpen .

The district involvement changed several times: In 1875 Rückersdorf came under the jurisdiction of the Pirna Authority , was part of the newly formed Sebnitz district in the Dresden district from 1952 to 1990 , then the Sebnitz district in the Free State of Saxony , in 1994 the district of Saxon Switzerland , and since 2008 it has belonged to the District of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains .

Rückersdorf merged in 1994 with the communities of Berthelsdorf and Langburkersdorf and their districts of Nieder- and Oberottendorf and Rugiswalde to form the community of Hohwald . Hohwald, in turn, was incorporated into Neustadt in Saxony as a result of a referendum on August 1, 2007.

church

Rückersdorfer Church

Rückersdorf had its own chapel at least since 1346. She was subordinate to the archpriest of Bischofswerda ; Pastoral care was initially the responsibility of the clergyman from neighboring Großdrebnitz . The first news about an own classroom comes from 1578. In 1766 there was a fire in the village, which almost completely destroyed the church building, the rectory and the school. The new church, whose structure is largely identical to that of today, was consecrated the following year.

Village character

Rückersdorf was always a farming village and was away from important road connections and industrial locations. Its population has been remarkably constant since the early 19th century. In 1834, for example, there were 410 inhabitants in Rückersdorf; in 1997, 414 were counted.

In the past, only the three mills developed a certain dynamic. From 1688 on, the judge's mill belonging to the Hereditary Court owned , among other things, a barley mill. In 1838, a wool spinning mill was built on the site of what will later be the bone mill, and later the oil mill. In addition, the Erbgericht ran a brewery, and from 1922 to 1982 there was a cheese factory in the village.

In 1997 Rückersdorf was included in the Saxon village renewal program. This led to brisk construction activity. The drinking water network and sewage systems could be created. A bypass was created, a new village square, a renovated and generously rebuilt parish hall.

Rückersdorf has a grown club life. The focus is on the activities of the volunteer fire brigade; they are also widely recognized outside the village.
