Rathewalde from the south

Rathewalde is a district of Hohnstein in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . The districts of Zeschnig and Hohburkersdorf also belong to the village of Rathewalde .

geography

Rathewalde is located east of the Saxon state capital Dresden in the north of Saxon Switzerland . It is located in the northeast of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. The Waldhufendorf is located just south of the Lusatian Fault , which forms the border between the Lusatian granite massif in the north and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the south. The Rathewalde location is in the valley basin of the Grünbach at the upper exit of the Amselgrund , around two kilometers west of Hohnstein.

Most of the corridor lies on the flat, undulating Rathewalder edge flatness, on which Elbe river gravel from the Early Elder Cold Age and Pleistocene gravel moraine remnants can be found. The largest part is covered by the Weichselian loess loam . In the far west of the corridor, Rathewalde is part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park . Edge areas of the district, especially the slopes in the south and west of the corridor, are forested. A large part of the 559 hectare corridor is used for agriculture.

The district of Hohnstein borders in the east and south-east, to which the Amselgrund also belongs. Neighboring Hohnsteiner districts are also Zeschnig in the northeast and Hohburkersdorf in the north. Stürza , a district of Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbach, borders in the northwest . The forests to the west and southwest to the edge of the Amselgrund belong to the municipality and district of Lohmen , including the Bastei rock formation . The next town to the south is Kurort Rathen , and to the south-west is the town of Wehlen . The Lohmen district of Uttewalde is also adjacent to the west .
