Location of Waitzdorf in Hohnstein

Waitzdorf is a district of the town of Hohnstein in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . It is located in the Saxon Switzerland National Park and, along with Kohlmühle, belongs to the village of Goßdorf .

geography

Waitzdorf is located east of the Saxon state capital Dresden in the north of Saxon Switzerland . It is located in the northeast of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. The Waldhufendorf is located on the Lusatian Fault , which forms the border between the Lusatian granite massif in the north and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the south. The place is on the Waitzdorfer edge flatness above the Tiefen Grund.

The highest elevation in the corridor is the two-peaked granite mountain (anatexite) of the Waitzdorfer Höhe with the 423.5 meter high, forest-free north-west knoll and the predominantly wooded south-west knoll of 414 meters. The Galloway cattle that graze on the local meadows are an attraction . With the exception of the village center, the entire corridor is part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park . Some parts of the 184-hectare corridor, mainly in the south and east, are forested.

In the south and west, the corridor borders on Hohnstein, which is located northwest of Waitzdorf. Neighboring Hohnsteiner districts are also Lohsdorf in the northeast, Goßdorf in the east and Kohlmühle in the southeast. The Bad Schandau districts Porschdorf and Waltersdorf are the closest places in the south and west. In between, however, are the fire ( 317.4  m above sea  level ) and the Polenz valley .

Only the road to the village ground leads as a dead end from the direction of Lohsdorf to Waitzdorf. Via it, the place is connected to the bus network of the regional traffic Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains (RVSOE) .
