Location of Goßdorf in Hohnstein

Goßdorf is a district of Hohnstein in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district . The districts of Kohlmühle and Waitzdorf also belong to the locality of Goßdorf .

geography

Goßdorf is east of the Saxon state capital Dresden in the north of Saxon Switzerland . It is located in the northeast of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district. The Waldhufendorf lies on the Lusatian Fault , which forms the border between the Lusatian granite massif in the north and the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the south. Goßdorf is located in a side valley of the Sebnitz valley. The vernacular refers to the ruin of Schwarzberg Castle to the south-east as the Robbery Goßdorfer Castle after the town.

In the extreme south of the Goßdorf district , in the Sebnitz valley, there is also the district of Kohlmühle. This is also where the deepest point of the corridor is at 140 meters. The highest point of the corridor is the 414 meter high Gickelsberg in the north. The valley of the Kohlichtgraben in the west of the Flur is part of the Saxon Switzerland National Park . About half of the district, especially the slopes in the east, south and west of the corridor, are wooded. Part of the 310 hectares of land is also used for agriculture.

The district of Hohnstein borders in the southwest. Neighboring Hohnsteiner districts are also Waitzdorf in the west and Lohsdorf in the north. The land border to the Hohnsteiner district Ulbersdorf in the east runs mostly in the Schwarzbach , that to the Sebnitz district Altendorf in the south in the Sebnitz . The Goßdorfer Flur at Kohlmühle borders on Rathmannsdorf to the southwest .

The most important road on Goßdorfer Flur is the Bergstraße, which as a district road coming from the direction of Hohnstein opens up the Goßdorfer town center and continues to Kohlmühle. Goßdorf is connected to the regional bus network of the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains (RVSOE) . There is also a connection to the Bautzen – Bad Schandau railway at Goßdorf-Kohlmühle station ; until 1951 it was also the starting point of the narrow-gauge railway Goßdorf-Kohlmühle-Hohnstein .
