The regional bus Oberlausitz GmbH ( RBO ) operates bus services in the two eastern Saxony districts Bautzen and Görlitz in the eponymous region Oberlausitz . The RBO bus routes run through two transport associations, the Oberelbe transport association (VVO; service areas Altkreis Kamenz and the city of Hoyerswerda ) and the Oberlausitz-Lower Silesia transport association (ZVON; service area Altkreis Bautzen and the northern district of Görlitz).

In Bautzen, Kamenz, Königswartha and Wehrsdorf, the company has a bus depot each .

history

The State Motor Vehicle Administration (SKV) was founded in 1912 and the Freistaat Sachsen (KVG) motor transport company was founded in 1919 . From 1923 onwards, both companies had a uniform management system and built wagon halls and workshops at various locations in Saxony. A location was set up at Strehlaer Straße 45 in Bautzen. In 1930 there were two bus routes in and around Bautzen.

After the Second World War, only two buses with trailers were left in 1945, so trucks with superstructures were also used for passenger transport. In 1949 VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen was founded on the site of Dr.-Peter-Jordan-Straße (formerly Strehlaer Straße). Two years later, in 1951, the first new LOWA power bus (KOM) from Werdau was added to the vehicle fleet. In 1955, vehicles of the type H6B from VEB motor vehicle factory "Ernst Grube" Werdau followed .

The new truck stop (depot) in Bautzen at Paul-Neck-Straße 139 was put into operation in 1957. This location is still the headquarters of the RBO. Branches were set up in Bischofswerda and Kamenz. Two years later, in 1959, 19 lines with 94 buses were operated. In 1964, VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen was merged with VEB Güterkraftverkehr and Spedition to VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen .

The VE traffic collective combine Dresden was founded 1971st The Combine operation VEB haulage Bautzen operational at this time 261 lines with 179 buses. Mainly buses from Ikarus from Hungary and Škoda from the ČSSR were used.

In 1990 VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen first became Ostsachsen-Trans GmbH . The sole shareholder of this company was the Treuhandanstalt . In 1991 the districts of Bautzen , Bischofswerda and Kamenz decided to found the joint local public transport company Regionalbus Oberlausitz GmbH on January 1, 1992 . The Treuhandanstalt transferred the assets to the districts on May 7, 1992.

As of January 1, 2005, 74% of the company's capital was sold to Rhenus Keolis as part of a PPP project . These shares were transferred to today's Rhenus Veniro in the course of the separation of the two partners Rhenus and Keolis .

After Regionalbus Oberlausitz won the tender for regular bus and school transport in the northern part of the district of Görlitz, the transport contract between the district and RBO was signed on November 1st, 2012. The previous transport service provider, the Lower Silesian Transport Company , remains active in the district as one of several subcontractors for Regionalbus Oberlausitz.

In October 2014 the sale of Kraftverkehrsgesellschaft Dreiländereck (KVG) from Abellio to RBO was planned; the KVG was ultimately bought by Rhenus Veniro itself.

On January 1, 2018, 14 lines in the Radeberg area were taken over by Regionalverkehr Dresden GmbH.

Quality management

The RBO received the certification of the quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9002 for the first time in 1997. Since 2003 the certification according to the new standard DIN EN ISO 9001: 2000 takes place .
