history
Harthau was first mentioned in documents in 1223 and 1228. The district of Bühlau was first mentioned in 1121 as Byla , Bela . The place existed as a Sorbian hamlet for a long time. The name Harthau perhaps comes from the Germanic Harth, which is the same place in the forest . On August 15, 1793, the village church and a few other houses burned down. The library was also destroyed. The new church was consecrated as early as 1794. Even during the Seven Years' War and the Liberation War in 1813, the place was badly affected. Napoleon himself stayed three times in the village. Until the 20th century the place was known as Harthau .
