Neukirch from the air

Neukirch is a Saxon municipality in the district of Bautzen . It belongs to the administrative community of Königsbrück .

Geography and traffic

The small community is located in the predominantly wooded heathland of the Königsbrücker Heide , which is partly part of the Westlausitz landscape protection area. The neighboring communities are Königsbrück , Kamenz and Schwepnitz ; The town of Kamenz is around 10 km to the east. Neukirch is located east of the former Königsbrück military training area . The stream of water flows through Neukirch and the Otterbach rises to the west .

history

The Schmorkau district was first mentioned in a document in 1342. In the course of the Saxon municipal area reform , the current municipality of Neukirch was formed on March 1, 1994 from the municipalities of Neukirch, Schmorkau, Gottschdorf and Weißbach near Königsbrück. Koitzsch joined on January 1, 1999.
