Jean de Hotteterre

Jean de Hotteterre (* in the 16th or 17th century; † 1691 ) was a French master turner and instrument maker from Paris .

He belonged to the extensive family of the Hotteterres, who after 1640, in collaboration with the royal band in Paris , pioneered the new baroque recorders , transverse flutes and oboes as a musician and instrument maker. Some of his famous contemporaries in Paris were the instrument makers Jean Jacques Rippert and Pierre Naust .
