The Sächsisch-Oberlausitzer Eisenbahngesellschaft (SOEG) is a railway infrastructure company and a railway transport company based in Zittau , Saxony . The company operates the narrow-gauge railways Zittau – Kurort Oybin and Bertsdorf – Kurort Jonsdorf .

history

The SOEG was founded on July 28, 1994 by the district of Zittau and several neighboring communities of the Zittau narrow-gauge railway. On November 15, 1996 it received the license as a railway company (EVU) and as a railway infrastructure company (EIU) for the narrow-gauge railway Zittau - Kurort Oybin / Kurort Jonsdorf. On December 1, 1996, the management of the narrow-gauge railway was finally transferred to SOEG. From 2002 to 2003 the SOEG was involved in the Saxon-Bohemian Railway Company (SBE) based in Seifhennersdorf.

On January 1, 2013, SOEG took over the management of Döllnitzbahn GmbH by means of a service contract , which is carried out by Ingo Neidhardt in personal union. According to a press release by the Döllnitzbahn, the conditions for an even closer cooperation up to the desired merger have been created.

In addition to the vehicles necessary for everyday traffic, the SOEG also has historical vehicles available with which special trips are offered.
