Margaret Joslin

Margaret Joslin (born August 6, 1883 in Cleveland , Ohio , † October 14, 1956 in Glendale , California ) was an American actress , best known for western comedies by and with Gilbert M. Anderson .

Life

Margaret Joslin worked exclusively for Essanay since 1910 , mostly under the direction of Gilbert M. Anderson in comedies and westerns. In addition to Augustus Carney (until he left Universal Studios ), Victor Potel and Harry Todd , she played the character Sophie Clutts more than 70 times in the very successful western comedy series Snakeville from 1911 to 1917 . She played Ben Turpin's wife in the bloggie films three times .

From 1916 Joslin worked under the name Mrs. Harry Todd for various film companies, especially as a comedian in slapstick films directed by Hal Roach (more than thirty films with Harold Lloyd and Armando Novello ). Joslin only made three films in the 1920s. In 1923 she withdrew completely from the film business.

Margaret Joslin was married to two of her direct colleagues: first to Augustus Carney , then to Harry Todd .
