The Niederschlesische Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (NVG) operated as a subcontractor of Regionalbus Oberlausitz until the end of 2017 the bus traffic in the area of the former Lower Silesian Oberlausitzkreis in the district of Görlitz . The company is based in Weißwasser .

General

The NVG is 85% owned by Transdev GmbH and 15% by the district of Görlitz. In addition to the Weißwasser section, there was also a section in Görlitz . Some lines ran as far as the Spree-Neisse and Bautzen districts . There was also a cross-border bus route from Görlitz to Zgorzelec in Poland.

The tariffs of the Zweckverband Verkehrsverbund Oberlausitz-Lower Silesia (ZVON) applied on all lines . On line 259, the VVO tariff was also used on the section between Neustadt (Spree) and Hoyerswerda or Schwarze Pump .

history

In 1962, passenger transport was carried out by VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen with a branch in Görlitz. In the following year, the branch in Görlitz was spun off from VEB Kraftverkehr Bautzen and merged with VEB Güterkraftverkehr and the Görlitz forwarding company, which had existed since 1957. The company was later renamed VEB Kraftverkehr Görlitz. In 1971 VEB Kraftverkehr Görlitz became a combine operation in the newly formed VEB Kraftverkehrskombinat Dresden . 1982–1990 also the Görlitzer tram belonged to Kraftverkehr Görlitz. After 1990 it was converted into Görlitztransport GmbH, on April 1, 1992, the public transport system was spun off from Görlitztransport GmbH and the Verkehrsgesellschaft Görlitz-Niesky mbH (VGN) was founded. The vehicles have also been continuously renewed since 1992, so that only three years later the last Ikarus bus was taken out of service. Due to the district reform of 1994/1996 , the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District was formed. This now held 100% in the Verkehrsgesellschaft Görlitz-Niesky (VGN) and around 30% in the Verkehrsgesellschaft Spree-Elster (VSE), which later became the Verkehrsgesellschaft Schwarze Elster (now Verkehrsgesellschaft Hoyerswerda ). In 1995 the district council of the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District decided to set up its own transport company. This resulted in the spin-off of the Weißwasser branch of the VSE and the incorporation into the VGN in 1996. In May 1996 the process was ended and the Lower Silesian Transport Company was founded. Even later, the different appearance of the stop signs showed the affiliations of the operating area to the VSE or VGN. In 2001 the new Görlitz depot on Nikolaus-Otto-Straße was put into operation. In 2005, after a Europe-wide tender, Connex , later Veolia Verkehr , today Transdev GmbH , took over 85% of the shares.

Due to the steady decline in population, numerous bus routes were discontinued or the route changed in the 1990s. Since 2004, only one of the three former city bus routes has operated in Weißwasser.

At the beginning of 2012, the NVG lines were put out to tender throughout the EU by the district of Görlitz. The lines of the NVG won the Regionalbus Oberlausitz , which has taken over the route network in the northern part of the district of Görlitz since January 1, 2013. The NVG was now active as a subcontractor for Regionalbus Oberlausitz with only about half of the employees. The five-year subcontractor contract expired on December 31, 2017. An extension did not come about and bus operations were discontinued. Half of the previous journeys made by the NVG will be taken over by the Dreiländereck transport company. Since January 2018, the remaining journeys have partly been made by Regionalbus Oberlausitz itself and other subcontractors.
