history
The Waldhufendorf owned a manor , which is the ancestral seat of the Lords of Gersdorff . These are mentioned for the first time in a document in 1241 and their family line begins with dominus Christianus aduocatus provincie Gorlicensis dictus de Gerhardisdorff (Mr. Christian von Gerhardsdorf, governor of the province of Görlitz).
Gersdorf was part of the Görlitz district. The size of the district in 1895 was 927 hectares . Gersdorf owned a parish church. In 1947 the place became part of the Weißwasser-Görlitz district and in 1952 of the Görlitz district . The community of Gersdorf lost its independence in 1994 when it was incorporated into Markersdorf. The district of Görlitz became part of the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District in 1994 , which became part of the new district of Görlitz on August 1, 2008 as a result of the Saxony district reform in 2008 .
