The transport company Hoyerswerda mbH (VGH) operates bus and coach transport in the Saxon Hoyerswerda .

history

Originally, as a result of the district reform in 1952, the transport company belonged to the Cottbus transport company as Kraftverkehr Schwarze Pump. In 1992 the transport company Spree-Elster (VSE) was founded by the former districts of Hoyerswerda , Spremberg and Weißwasser . The Spree-Neisse district , as the successor to the Spremberg district, left the company, and the entire bus line operation in the old Spremberg district has since been carried out by Neisseverkehr GmbH . The former Hoyerswerda trolleybus was also operated by VSE.

In 1995, the district council of the Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia District decided to set up its own transport company, the Görlitz-Niesky transport company (later Lower Silesian Transport Company ). This resulted in the spin-off of the Weißwasser branch of the VSE and its incorporation into the VGN in 1996. At the same time, the name was changed from Verkehrsgesellschaft Spree-Elster to Verkehrsgesellschaft Schwarze Elster .

Since April 2013 the company has been operating under the name Verkehrsgesellschaft Hoyerswerda (VGH).

The company belongs to the municipal group of companies Städtische Wirtschaftsbetriebe Hoyerswerda GmbH .

outlook

The City Council of Hoyerswerda decided on May 28, 2019 that the Hoyerswerda transport company should be entrusted "with the provision of public passenger transport services in accordance with Article 5 (2) of EU Regulation 1370/2007 with effect from December 14, 2019" and that it "has an exclusive right for the protection of the liner services awarded ”. The VGH will continue to operate the city bus network in the future; however, it is no longer possible for her to participate in competitive awarding of services outside the area of the city of Hoyerswerda.

Long-distance bus

The VGH operated a long-distance bus route between Hoyerswerda and Dresden from May 3, 2013 to June 1, 2014 . This line was marketed under the name Seenland-Express . Due to a lack of demand and the associated low cost recovery, this line was discontinued.
