The Müller Busreisen GmbH is a company for Verkehrsdienst- and travel agency services in Langenwolmsdorf in Stolpen in the district Saxon Switzerland & Eastern Ore Mountains in Saxony .

From 1969 to 1987, the company produced its own coaches together with Fritz Fleischer Karosserie- und Fahrzeugfabrik KG Gera .

history

The company was founded in 1945 as Walter Müller . His only vehicle at the time was a truck that was converted to a wood gasifier and transported goods to supply the population. Together with his son Harry Müller, who started in his father's company after completing his apprenticeship, the company founder converted the loading area of the truck for passenger transport and used it to make excursions. As this turned out to be a success for the company, two old buses were bought as an addition, refurbished and also used for excursions. From 1969 self-developed buses were added to the fleet , which remained in use until 1990.

Up until 1990 excursions and bus trips to destinations in the GDR were primarily carried out. The buses got names like Burgstadt Stolpen or Countess Cosel from the company . This offer was mainly used by associations and businesses in the area. Both single and multi-day trips have already been offered. In addition, the company also carried out rush-hour journeys for the combine progress agricultural machinery .

With the fall of the Wall in 1990, two new buses were bought and the company was converted into Müller Busreisen GmbH . In 1997, the company moved into the newly built depot that had been acquired three years earlier.

In 2017, the senior boss Harry Müller passed away largely unnoticed by the public.

Business areas

Vehicle manufacturing

After the experience with the refurbishment of old buses, a separate coach was developed in cooperation with the Gera company Fleischer . Harry Müller played a key role in the development with his own drawings and drafts, especially in the chassis area.

The result was a bus with a cantilevered body with floor assembly and rear-wheel drive. A large number of components from the IFA W50 truck were used for the construction, some of which were later replaced by Ikarus components.

Various private bus companies used these buses. Müller put a butcher's bus into service for the last time in May 1987. Other companies also bought the buses later. Müller built these buses himself on the basis of the Fleischer chassis until 1987. The last bus stayed with the company until 1990.

Public transport

Müller Busreisen operates ten regional bus routes within the VVO . These originate mainly from Dresden-Bühlau and Stolpen and complement the route networks of other providers such as the Dresden public transport company or the regional traffic Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . Lines 98A, 98B and 98C were taken over on October 1, 2010 by Hochlandexpress . These lines of the Dresden bus transport in the Schönfeld highlands are operated as subcontractors for DVB.

to travel

The company carries out spa trips and day trips to the holiday areas of Europe and to destinations within Germany. The traffic takes place partly in cooperation with Eberhardt-Reisen . In addition, some air travel and cruises are offered.

Other business areas

The company's buses can be rented as part of the charter service. The butcher's bus last put into service (built in 1987, 125 HP, 37 seats) has been completely overhauled and can be used for short trips for family, company, wedding or club celebrations. Travel agency services are also offered through the subsidiary Müller Reiseservice GmbH .
