Heeselicht is a district of the town of Stolpen in the Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains district in Saxony .

geography

Heeselicht is located in the district of the same name in the south of the city of Stolpen, east of Dresden , roughly in the middle between the castles Hohnstein and Stolpen . It is surrounded by the Hohnsteiner districts of Cunnersdorf in the east, Zeschnig in the south and Hohburkersdorf in the southwest. Adjacent to the west is the Dürrröhrsdorf-Dittersbacher district of Stürza , north of the Stolpener district of Langenwolmsdorf .

Heeselicht extends in a flat hollow on the plateau to the right above the Polenz valley , which marks the border with Hohnstein here. The Heeselichtmühle is located in the extreme south of the corridor, near the mouth of the Goldflüssches in the Polenz. The valley section between the Scheibenmühle (to Heeselicht) and the Bockmühle (to Cunnersdorf), which is located a little to the north, is known for the Märzenbecherwiesen nature reserve, which has been designated since 1967 .

The village is surrounded by agricultural land. The most important elevation is the Steinberg to the east of the village with a height of 347  m above sea level. NN . The Black Bush, a wooded hill, extends north of Heeselicht. The lowest point of the corridor is at the Heeselichtmühle at about 220  m above sea level. NN .

The spatial position is located just north of the so-called Lusatian Fault , the boundary between the Elbsandsteingebirge and from granite constructed Westlausitzer hills and mountains forms. In the consciousness of the population, however, the place is part of Saxon Switzerland despite its natural spatial conditions .

Most of the residential development extends within the village center and the adjoining small settlements . The new cultivation settlement is located near the northern boundary of the land. To the east of Heeselicht is Röllig's children's farm. Heeselichter SV has its sports field in the north of the village.

State road 161 runs through Heeselicht under the name Basteistraße . It connects Heeselicht via Dobra with Eschdorf , where it meets the state road 177 . The road from Heeselicht to Langenwolmsdorf also belongs to the S 161 today. It was previously dedicated as S 162. The municipal road from Heeselicht through the valley of the Goldflüsschens and the Polenz in the direction of Hohnstein was part of the Großdeutschlandring , a race track that was inaugurated in 1939.

The center of Heeselicht is the Am Markt square. This is where the Scheibenmühlenstrasse and Hofestrasse begin, which run through the town to the southeast. Other named streets are Am Cultivation and Napoleonstrasse. To the public transport Heeselicht is on the bus lines 232 ( Helmsdorf -Langenwolmsdorf) of Müller bus trips and 236 ( Pirna - Sebnitz ) of RVSOE connected.

Heeselicht has the status of a village with its own local council.

The place name Heeselicht was first mentioned in 1378 as "Heselich". It is of German origin and means "settlement on the hazel bushes ". The place Oberhäslich near Dippoldiswalde , a similar one in the Freital district of Birkigt, has the same origin . Numerous forms of the place name have been handed down, including "Heselecht" and "Hesselicht".

Heeselicht was created in the course of the German East Settlement through clearing in the middle of a contiguous forest area on the northern edge of Saxon Switzerland. The inhabitants of Heeselicht lived mainly from agriculture ; in 1764 they farmed seven hooves of 19 to 20 bushels each . The forest hoof village was surrounded in 1900 by a 359 hectare forest hoof field.

In the 14th century Heeselicht belonged as a fief to the Meißner Bishop Johann I von Isenburg . The place passed into the possession of Nikel von Hermsdorf in 1488. Heeselicht was subordinate to his descendants until 1621, after which the village belonged to Johann Georg I. The elector had a Vorwerk built, which was inherited in 1657 by Stolpen's governor Georg Hermann von Schweinitz . As his descendants, other members of the von Schweinitz family remained in the possession of the manor thus created for a long time and exercised the manorial rule . Around 1860 Ernst Käferstein was the master of Heeselicht.

Heeselicht was parish in the neighboring Stürza; today it belongs to the parish of Stürza- Rathewalde . The Heeselichtmühle was mentioned as early as the 16th century.

The administration of the place was in 1445 the care, 1561 then the office Dresden . From the 17th to the middle of the 19th century, Heeselicht was part of the Stolpen district . In order to create a shorter connection between Stolpen and Hohnstein - the route originally led via Hohburkersdorf - Napoleon Bonaparte had the road relocated to Heeselicht in 1813. Today it is called Napoleonstrasse. In 1834 the place received market rights , which explains the name of the square Am Markt. On the basis of the rural community code of 1838 , Heeselicht gained its independence as a rural community . In 1856 it belonged to the Hohnstein court office and then came to the Pirna District Administration , which was renamed the Pirna District in 1939 .

In 1933 and 1934, prisoners from the Hohnstein concentration camp had to do the heaviest forced labor in the Heeselicht quarry .

From 1952, the former community of Heeselicht was part of the Sebnitz district . On January 1, 1994, Heeselicht, Helmsdorf, Langenwolmsdorf, Rennersdorf-Neudörfel , Stolpen and Lauterbach merged to form the town of Stolpen. After the merger of the districts of Pirna and Sebnitz with effect from August 1, 1994, Heeselicht belonged to the district of Saxon Switzerland , which was merged into the new district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains on August 1, 2008 .

The manor of the manor is empty (status: 2010).
