The city bus Bad Kreuznach GmbH (SBK) operates the city traffic in the district town of Bad Kreuznach . The SBK emerged from the Städtische Betriebs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft (StBVG) founded in 1926 . This became the Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH Bad Kreuznach in 1994 as a result of the restructuring of the municipal companies . The VGK was sold on January 1st, 2000 by the city of Bad Kreuznach to the French state-owned company Cariane and the Martin Becker company from Altenkirchen . The symbolic selling price was one Deutsche Mark. In 2002 Rhenus Keolis GmbH & Co. KG took over all company shares. As a result of the split from Rhenus Keolis , Rhenus Veniro SE & Co. KG has been the sole shareholder since December 1, 2007 . Stadtbus Bad Kreuznach GmbH was founded in 2014 and has been providing VGK public transport services in the city and the surrounding area of Bad Kreuznach since January 1, 2016, and has been publicly visible ever since.
history
Between 1906 and 1953, trams operated by the Kreuznach trams and suburban railways ran in Bad Kreuznach . These passed on January 24, 1924 to the Rhein-Nahe Kraftversorgungs-AG . Two years later, on March 11, 1926, she came to the Städtische Betriebs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft Bad Kreuznach GmbH (StBVG), where she stayed until the tram operation was discontinued in 1953.
In 1928 omnibuses were used by this StBVG for the first time. These drove to Winzenheim , Volxheim , Neu-Bamberg , Mandel , Argenschwang and Sommerloch . From 1952 the buses were also used on the tram lines and took over the traffic on them completely after the tram was closed. Further lines into the surrounding area followed to Stromberg (1950) and Gaugrehweiler (1954). The line to Stromberg was handed over to the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1958 , which now served this line with its rail bus . In compensation, the StBVG received the lines from Bad Kreuznach to Rüdesheim and Roxheim as well as to Bretzenheim .
The conductors were abolished in 1966. In 1969 the central bus station was moved from Kornmarkt to the station forecourt. In the same year the first StBVG buses drove to the now incorporated towns of Ippesheim and Planig . The places Bosenheim and Winzenheim were also incorporated into Bad Kreuznach. The route to Bretzenheim was handed over to the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1974.
The former tram depot was demolished in 1977. The new washing and care hall for StBVG vehicles was built on this site. In 1981 the new depot was completed. The first articulated buses were also put into operation in 1981 . In 1990, low-floor buses with ramps were purchased for the first time , which offer disabled people, wheelchair users and passengers with prams better comfort when boarding. Since 1997 the stops have also been adapted to the new standard, so that an almost step-free boarding is possible.
The color scheme of the buses changed in 1990 from the previous beige to the Kreuznach city colors blue and white. In 2006, the color concept of the Rhenus Keolis (now Rhenus Veniro ) with the basic color white and the decorative colors melon yellow and traffic blue was adopted.
In the timetable year 1994/95, a city bus line ran around the city center. However, due to the short distances in the city center, the number of passengers was too low, so this line was discontinued after only one year. Park-and-ride traffic was also introduced in 1994 . From the parking lot at the Pfingstwiese there are buses to the train station. However, from 1995 a fare had to be paid for this line, as the city of Bad Kreuznach no longer paid subsidies due to the tight financial situation. As a result, the number of passengers dropped drastically and the shuttle service was given up in 1997.
The connections to Gaugrehweiler, Rüdesheim, Hargesheim, Roxheim, Wöllstein, Siefersheim and Stein-Bockenheim are taken over between 1994 and 1997 by Omnibusverkehr Rhein-Nahe (formerly Bahnbus) and the company Sticht.
Since 1996 there has been a call and collect taxi (AST) in Bad Kreuznach . The bus routes only run until 8 p.m. in the evening, after which passengers can comfortably get home with the AST. The Rhein-Nahe-Nahverkehrsverbund started in 1999 and VGK has belonged to it from the start.
As a result of the privatization in 2000, the private company Sticht was bought up in July 2000. This means that the VGK goes back to Wöllstein and, thanks to a new regional school , there have also been lines to Neu-Bamberg, Fürfeld and Frei-Laubersheim since then. The Bad Münster - Hochstätten line was added later.
Under the direction of the new operator, the route network was restructured in December 2002 and, as far as possible, an attractive and faster 15-minute cycle was introduced.
In 2016 and 2017, the route network was rescheduled again. Line 204 now runs from Winzenheim via the former General Rose zur Hohen Bell conversion site, line 205 connects the Justice and St. Mark's Centers and line 206 also goes to the Am Grenzgraben / Seeberflur industrial estate. Further changes in the route network are due to the newly created residential areas "An den Weingärten" and "Hospital / Rheingrafenblick".
