The Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund ( RNN ) is a transport association in the form of a mixed network. The are one half of the RNN GmbH purpose association Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (ZRNN) and active in the association area to the other half of transport companies involved. The Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund (ZRNN) association includes the city of Mainz (tariff includes the entire Mainz / Wiesbaden tariff area as a transition area), the districts of Bad Kreuznach , Birkenfeld and Mainz-Bingen and the district of Alzey-Worms (northern part in the core area, southern Part in the transition area). The Rhein-Nahe Nahverkehrsverbund was founded in 1999 to provide a uniform public transport tariff in the network area from August 1, 1999 , to coordinate the timetables and the network tariff and to market the public transport network. A transition tariff was agreed with the RMV from mid-2002 , which is based on the RMV tariff rules and is referred to as the RMV / RNN transition tariff. On December 9, 2007, the RNN tariff area was expanded to include the Alzey / Worms transition area across the whole of Rheinhessen to Worms and Kirchheimbolanden.

Transitional areas / tariffs

  • Transition area Mainz / Wiesbaden (Wabe 300) - since August 1, 1999: The tariff of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) applies to tickets with start and finish within this transition area . The RNN tariff applies to tickets from this transition area to the rest of the RNN network area or vice versa.
  • Transitional area Alzey / Worms - since December 9, 2007: The area includes the urban area of Worms , the southern district of Alzey-Worms and parts of the Donnersbergkreis with Kirchheimbolanden . The tariff of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (VRN) applies to tickets with start and finish within this transition area . The RNN tariff applies to tickets from this transition area to the rest of the RNN network area or vice versa.
  • RMV / RNN transition tariff - since mid-2002: Between parts of the RNN network area (districts Mainz-Bingen, Bad Kreuznach and northern part of Alzey-Worms) and the RMV network area (districts Groß-Gerau, Rheingau-Taunus, Main-Taunus, western part of Offenbach , cities of Frankfurt am Main and Darmstadt ) an RMV / RNN transitional tariff according to RMV tariff rules applies.
