The ORN Omnibusverkehr Rhein-Nahe GmbH (ORN) is a transport company of public transport . It emerged in 1989 from a regional rail bus company and a subsidiary of DB Regio AG . It has been operating under the new name DB BAHN - Rhein-Nahe-Bus for several years .

The traffic area is in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse and includes almost all of Rheinhessen (except for the region around Worms served by Busverkehr Rhein-Neckar GmbH (BRN) ), the northern Palatinate Donnersbergkreis and the districts of Bad Kreuznach and Birkenfeld .

The main field of business is public transport. Around 60% of all passengers are schoolchildren and trainees. Due to the continuous expansion of the range, not least through nine regional lines and joint lines with the Mainzer Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH (MVG), the number of "everyone-customers" is constantly increasing.

The company employs almost 500 people and has branches in Alzey , Bad Kreuznach , Mainz .

Lines

The ORN operates almost all regional bus routes in the Rhine-Nahe area. The differences in the numbering in the individual sub-areas are striking. In the Bad Kreuznach area, the 200 lines, in the Idar-Oberstein area the 300 lines, in the Alzey-Worms area the 400 lines and in the Mainz-Bingen district the 600 lines. The 900 lines operate in the Donnersbergkreis. The exception is the line X76 Katzenelnbogen - ( Nastätten - Wiesbaden ), which the ORN operates on behalf of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV).

Until 2007, the ORN was also responsible for regional bus traffic in the Rheingau-Taunus district. This task was taken over by the Rheingau-Taunus-Verkehrsgesellschaft , as a result the ORN only drives here "on behalf" and serves significantly fewer lines than before. Here, too, attempts were made to build community lines. In cooperation with ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft, a line 147 was set up, which ran from Wiesbaden to the districts of Biebrich and Schierstein, and then went via Martinsthal to the Eltville train station. It was discontinued - also due to a lack of communication between the two companies involved. Today this route is served by lines 5 and 171.

In addition, ORN operates the city traffic in Alzey as well as the bus line 600, which runs from Frankfurt via Mainz to Frankfurt-Hahn Airport .

RegioLines

Furthermore, the ORN operates regional lines that connect the upper and middle centers directly and without major detours. The route often resembles former railway lines.

Line 660 runs based on the former Alzey – Bodenheim railway line (popularly known as Amiche ).

In the Alzey area, new lines were introduced in 2019 that can be used as regional bus lines.

  • 440 Alzey - Wöllstein - Bad-Kreuznach
